Taking Flight — Farewell

Every session at AMAL has been very close to my heart and I am sure it is the same for each one of my batch fellows. The experience of every session was unique, every session had something new, a new learning, a new idea. The last session was a bit different, we had the time to connect with our fellows, our facilitator in a unique way. The activity of “appreciation posts" was something really special. It gave us the chance to convey our thoughts and feelings in a different way. The beautiful comments I received really made my day. I, too, had so much to say to my fellows which I never had the chance to but this activity gave me the opportunity to express my gratitude towards my amazing fellow fellows.

Reading what others think about you is indeed a good way to learn and further improve. Reading everyone’s beautiful comments made me realise that our small gestures can aid in shaping our positive image. A small act of humbleness can help not only the other person but our own self too. Connecting with others is always helpful and a way to uplift one’s mood. It helps in motivating.

I, too, felt really encouraged and motivated through this session. Such sessions are really important where we get a chance to reflect back on our learning, where we get to know people whom we have been working with. This was a great way to express gratitude towards the people who had helped me in this journey. It was relaxing to show our gratitude towards our amazing facilitators.

When a person works on something, he always wishes for the feedback or appreciation for his work. If we work on something with passion, he will want it to have some impact on someone and when someone praises that impact, it gives the person a feeling of achievement. It can even get a bit emotional to know how others feel about your work. The AMAL journey has been a rememberable one and it was indeed one of the best experiences. I made some real good friends who were always there to help me out whenever I needed them. I am hopeful that our circle will stay in touch via our WhatsApp group. I will, for sure, keep connected with my AMAL fellows through Facebook and WhatsApp. I am extremely proud of myself that I joined this beautiful fellowship and got the chance of meeting such beautiful souls. The beautiful network that has been established with the aid of AMAL will continue to be strengthened.

The journey was exceptional, the people I met here, my fellows and facilitators were the best. I used to think of myself as a very bad team player as I had some bad experiences but the way AMAL helped us working in groups make me realize that with patience, I can work effectively in a team. This journey taught me how to be a leader without authority. The picture above shows one of the most important learnings that life starts after coming out of our comfort zone. I have somewhat a clear view of how the professional life works. I know how to appear in an interview with full preparations. I have learned the art of giving and receiving constructive feedback. I have learned how showing gratitude and appreciating others can be really helpful, not only for them but for us also. I have realised how positivity can help us go through all the hardships and difficulties. I now know how to deal with pressure. I have become more punctual. I can write dozens of pages about the wonderful experience I have had.

I will try my best to look at things from a positive perspective. The thing that was the most important throughout the fellowship was to come out of my comfort zone. I have worked on this and will continue to and incorporating this technique will help me in most of the learnings of this fellowship. I will continue to grow my network through social websites as we are taught how important it is to have a strong network. I have already enrolled in an online course and will finish that by the week’s end. The thing I have realised is that if we continue to learn each day, something new, something different then we will sharpen our growth mindset. So the best technique I will be utilising is to learn something new each day, it might be from a person, something related to my field or something related to life. I will write this down every night and reflect upon what I have gained through this. It will take some time to be consistent in this, but I will try my best to make it a habit.
